How To Use Henna And Indigo To Color Your Hair Black

Step 1: Applying Henna

1. In a mixing bowl (preferably iron bowl,) combine the henna powder (50g to 70g as required,) lemon juice and curd.
2. Slowly start adding warm water while stirring this mixture until you get a thick chutney-like paste.
3. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and leave it on overnight for the dye in the henna to release.
4. Now in the next morning, Working with one section at a time, start applying henna with a hair coloring brush right from the roots to the ends.
5. Roll this section around your finger into a little curl and stick it to your head.
6. Once you’re done with applying henna to all the sections, apply the rest of the henna all over your head and work it in with your hands for complete coverage.
7. Put on a shower cap.
8. You can leave in the henna for anywhere between 3-4 hours.
9. Rinse off the henna with just water. Do not use shampoo, conditioner.
10. Do Not apply any Hair Oil as such in the next step, You have to apply the Indigo Mix Directly on Washed hair.

What Is Indigo?
Indigo is a natural dye that is obtained from the plant Indigofera tinctoria. It’s rich, dark blue in color and is known to be one of the oldest dyes. it is also being used in combination with henna as a natural hair dye. Interestingly, indigo offers some great benefits for your hair when used appropriately. So, let’s take a look.

• When mixed with henna, it gives your hair a rich brown color.
• When applied over henna treated hair, it gives a lush black color.

Step 2: Applying Indigo (on the next day of applying the Henna)

1. Mix the indigo powder (50g to 70g as required)  and a Pinch of Sea Salt together and slowly add water to it, until you have a thick paste.
2. This Mix have to be applied Immediately after making the paste. no need to give it any rest in the bowl.
3. Divide your hair into sections and apply the indigo paste to it the same way you applied henna.
4. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for anywhere between 3-4 hours.
5. Wash off the indigo paste with water and do not use any shampoo or conditioner on it for the next 2-3 days.

The black color of your hair may take a couple of days to fully develop.
